CLOSED - Senior QA Automation Engineer - downtown Boulder

SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer for their downtown Boulder headquarters. Responsible for defining and utilizing automation tools and methodologies as well as creating, maintaining, and enhancing automated test scripts and establishing scripting standards. Strive to ensure that system requirements are satisfied for internal and external application users. Ensure project testing is complete and testing risks are identified prior to implementation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with QA and development teams to initiate automation test standards, process and best practices.
  • Define and utilize automation tools and standards to improve effectiveness and to increase efficiencies in the QA process. Drive automation test planning, test case design and test script walkthroughs with QA and development leads.
  • Initially, responsibilities include manual testing. Ultimate responsibilities include defining, developing and maintaining automated test processes, scripts and test environments. Review automated test scripts and provide feedback to team members.
  • Independently execute automated test plans and test scripts based on planned project schedules and in accordance with QA methodology.
  • Record and track defects uncovered during the execution of tests scripts. Drive defect toward resolution; proposes and designs retest cases, scripts and data. Contributes to the defect management: defect status, root cause.
  • Provide timely and accurate status on defect information and appropriate metrics to facilitate QA reporting. Report individual status: open issues, risk analysis.
  • Review requirements and specifications and provide input during requirements or specification walkthroughs.
  • Develop and execute SQL queries.
  • Understand and contribute to the process of test estimates and project schedules.

Qualifications:

  • Experience migrating from a manual to an automated QA environment.
  • Must have three or more years experience in QA and test automation
  • Experience using automated testing tools like Mercury QuickTest Pro, WinRunner, LoadRunner, Silk, Rational or writing test harnesses
  • Must exhibit understanding of software development best practices and must demonstrate experience with programming aspects of automated scripting such as use of data tables, variables/parameters, exception handlers, and functions
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL and writing SQL queries
  • Experience with VB programming language a plus
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter who is able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Must be willing to assist with manual testing when needed
  • Experience working with remote development teams a plus
  • Experience working with very frequent release cycles ideal
  • Ability to see the big picture and be effective in a changing dynamic environment.
